Dr Haroun Mahomed is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in Lower Limb Surgery. He specialized as an Orthopaedic surgeon in Durban, completing his training in 2006. He furthered his training with a Fellowship in Joint replacement surgery in Wales followed by 7 years working in England as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. Dr Mahomed returned with his family to Durban to take up a Head Clinical Unit post at an Academic training hospital in Durban, Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital. He now works in full time Private practice based at Westville Hospital in Durban with additional days at Gateway and Ahmed Alkadi Hospitals. Dr Mahomed has founded the KZN Hip and Knee Centre with Dr Rob McLennan-Smith at Westville Hospital. This centre is dedicated to excellence in Joint Replacements of the hip and knee, and is particularly focused on Complex Revision and Infection in Joint Replacements. The unit hosts a regular Revision Hip Forum for Orthopaedic surgeon colleagues. Dr Mahomed’s Practice is always at the forefront of Arthroplasty knowledge and advances. He is regularly invited to teach and speak at local and national courses and conferences.
